The Librarian
A downloadable game
The Librarian is a post-apocalyptic role-playing adventure for the PC-8801 series of personal computers (MkII SR+ only) where you take on the role of Libby, a tech preservationist on the edge...
The Librarian.
Just the utterance of the horrible name drives the Combine into a frenzy.
You are one of a special sect of killer technology preservationists, secreting away all sorts of tech as you find it - before the Combine do, who use it for dark and nefarious purposes.
Beware irradiated fiends, techno-beasts, and of course, the Combine as you travel the New American forests in search of RELICS.
Good luck!
HOW TO PLAY
Use the keyboard, mainly the numpad for movement, Y, N, G, S and B keys when prompted, and the spacebar or return key to confirm.
Hold Enter or Space to skip the intro!
GAME RULES
Each step you take has a chance (1 in 3 for grass, or 1 in 2 for trees) to roll on that map's encounter table. Using a 3d6, a random encounter will be chosen. Map 2 is more difficult overall than map 1, and map 3 is the most difficult.
Encounters will ask you to challenge one of two stats - GUN, SPEED or BOOK. Regardless, each stat check takes a 2d6. However, Libby has a pool of bonus rolls for each stat she can use per map. Make good use of this to stay alive.
Some encounters will heal HP, and some will do nothing.
CITY squares are different. Only one of the cities in a map has that map's single RELIC, and only one city is the map exit.
Find the RELIC, then find the EXIT.
Complete all 3 maps to win!
